Hello all,

My name is Michelle and I am originally from Texas going to school out of state. I am a straight student in her junior year of college and I am currently writing a paper for a study I want to conduct and am asking people from GLBT areas to help me out.

A little history.

When I was 12 years old my older brother committed suicide on my father’s birthday. He was not openly gay, but he had confided in certain people about his sexuality. Most people knew or suspected anyway, and since his small stature he was a prime target for harassment and name calling.
Even though I was young this one event has driven me to the point of passion to make LGBT teens and young adult’s lives better through education, support and working with schools for more accepting environments.
The paper I am writing (considering making it a book) deals with how LGBT teens are viewed from a society standpoint and how they view society, This includes how they are treated in different parts of the United States, and the politics involved.
One issue is there is a lack of, or conflicting data all over the place. So I think the best place to start is the source. I have posted some questions in your forum here:

If you want to answer them, I would really appreciate it. You can give as little or as much information as you want.

Thanks all.

Also I have posted this on

also. Are there any other places that you know of where I can get speak to more people please let me know.

So sorry about your brother. I admire that you are being proactive and taking away positive actions from a sad situation.
