I am a woman, engaged to an amazing woman. In Indiana. I tell someone about my engagement, and the first words are never congratulations, good for you, good luck, etc, but "Is that legal?"

No, we are not getting legally married, as the legality of the situation is not the point for us- its a celebration of the union of our hearts, our souls, and our lives. Why does no one want to share in the happiness we feel, but muddle it with politics?

Thoughts?

I just replied to your other post in support too...

well, gay marriage is such a political firestorm right now so that is probably why it is the first response from most people. Not sure if that means they do not want to share in your happiness.

Hey, I'm happy for you! I know I had to learn in this life that I can't let other's response to me affect how I feel and the emotions I experience. Surround yourself with those who appreciate the love you have....
