Hello all, my name is David, and I am a sociology undergrad attending Sinclair Community College in Dayton Ohio.  As I mentioned, my major is sociology; I am particularly interested in the intersection of religion and sex (what is the role of one's religiosity in the formation of one's sexual identity or habits).

Currently, I am taking a Social Psychology class, and one of my assignments is to write a diversity awareness paper.  The point of the paper is to pick a group that I am not a part of and research it; this includes talking to people of that community.  So I decided to pick the transgender community because, well, one, I'm not transgender, I am a white, thirty-year-old, male with two kids; two, I have done a little bit of research into the transgender community (I've read theoreticians like Fausto-Sterling, Foucault, Herdt, and I have watched the documentary Southern Comfort).

I would really appreciate any help that you may be able to give me.  I have a basic set of questions, but really, I am looking to start a conversation (hopefully one that will last far beyond my paper) about the transgender community and what it means to be apart of it.  Oh, and concerning my paper, I will be more than happy to share the final draft here, and anything that you mention will be anonymous.  I will not use your screen name, but rather I give anyone who shares with me an pseudonym.  So is anyone up to it?  Also, if you have any other questions or concerns, please let me know.

Cheers!
David
