Hi Josh and welcome!

It is very promising that the most popular person in your school is openly gay.  He/she may be a good resource for you when you do feel ready to be honest about who you are.  You are right about the fact that unless you feel good about yourself it would be difficult to come out.  It is important to understand that you are a beautiful human being and that you were born the way you are - whether straight, gay or bi - and you must feel confident in yourself and love yourself.

Read through the posts on these pages and you will see that many people have struggled and gone through a process in which they begin to love themselves for who they are.

Once you are confident in yourself, noone else's opinion can harm you because you will realize that if they are negative toward you, it is their character flaw, not your's.

You do not have to be in a rush to label yourself as gay or bi.  Just take your time, explore, and you will intuitively begin to clearly understand which category you naturally fall.  In the meantime, as you are feeling better about yourself you can begin to be honest with people.  Start with the ones you trust the most and who seem the most open and go from there.
